Why doesn't Belesky have to Ben protected? Maybe we've already went over it, because it is a no trade but clause instead of no movement?
I would think that Belesky would be attractive to VEGAs in that case. He is not a bad player and it's not like he has a bad cap hit for an expansion team.
I just really think c Miller needs to be protected somehow. |

After the playoffs, I was in the protect Killer Camp.
Now, I think you only protect him if you are going with a "win now" mentality. Chiller, while inconsistent last year, is younger, cheaper, has more potential upside, and will most likely be the player taken if exposed. Killer will always be a solid bottom pairing D. Chiller could form into a top 4 eventually, and if not, would at least have more trade value than Killer. I think if Chiller can be in the bottom 6 consistently, his value goes up higher than Killers. |

Too many "stay at home" d-men types with Chara, Carlo, McQuaid, and K Miller. Colin Miller hasn't been the better defenseman yet, but Kevan Miller is already at his ceiling, and we've got too many of him on the roster already. Let Vegas have a lower pairing guy, and take the chance on Colin... because if he improves he has the skills that are coveted much higher than Kevan's these days. |

I think this is a huge part of it... they left K Miller in the lineup through all of his troubles and he improved. Why they're still benching Colin for 1/4 of the season is beyond me. Play him a full 82 games and let him grow and learn and live with his mistakes. |

Agreed. Need them to take a forward and leave the D intact. Chiller is probably the kind of player that needs a few seasons to really develop. Quick, hard shot, offensive sense.

Sounds like gallant favors rugged big defenders over more finesse defensemen, that is the only possible reason the bruins would expose colin, because i think kevan would be snatched up without question. Only thing I don't like about exposing colin, is if we do lose him, the lucic trade will ultimately just be a salary dump now. |

As much as I like Spooner's talent and believe he still has some upside, he's likely not a fit. What's he worth though on the trade market though, a second rounder at best? If I were Sweeney- I'd try to offer up Spooner to Vegas with the agreement that they'd not take C Miller and instead take Hayes or Beleskey,
HATE the thought of losing Colin |

Good luck. I'm guessing it will be McQuaid or c. Miller. They will be the two best players available and should get taken unless Sweeney works something out with Vegas. |

Carlo - Krug

It's a no-trade not a no-move, as you mentioned, and honestly, his NTC is one of the least player-friendly ones in the league. He has 23 teams he can be traded to without his approval. |

They also got 2 firsts out of Lucic deal and retained almost half his salary. Not exactly the definition of a salary dump. |

Now that's a weak NTC...
I would send Vegas a second Rd pick to not take a Dman. If Isles can do it for forwards with a first, and Vegas would have a better pool to choose from from Isles forwards than Boston's D, I think it would be worth it to keep Colin and essentially have Belesky or Hayes taken. Shed salary, clear space up front, keep chiller all for a 2nd. |

If I am Vegas, and Boston gave me compensation not to take a D man, I would be taking a shot at subban instead of taking the salary of two players who likely won't contribute anything to my team. Take the prospect and let them continue to develop. Vegas has all the time in the world. |

Belesky will be a second line LW on Vegas and net 15 goal so or so. He underperformed last year because he was on a line with Hayes most of the time. He also had an injury. He's a 30 point guy at least who is full of energy and hits constantly. 3.8 is not much of a salary for a brand new team.

It would be nice for them to take him, I agree. However I just don't see it happening |

Based on everything I've heard from both Sweeney and Vegas, I think there's a good chance Boston sends something like Morrow and a 1st for Vegas to select Belesky/Hayes. |
